Thanks for dropping your child at the gate for Forest School today. As we walked along the path we noticed how bare the trees look without their leaves. Some children commented “it’s like skating!” as they slipped a little on the squishy leaves. Lisa mentioned the leaves were decomposing underfoot and wondered if anyone makes leaf mulch for the garden. We noticed a few shoots but the bluebells still have a long time to appear! A few children were sweeping with twig brooms, one child noticed markings on a branch, exclaiming “it’s like Chinese writing!” The plastic phone cord was called a “tentacle!” As a group of children gathered on a tree stump they called to their friends, at first quite quietly, then they crescendoed, lovely to hear this as they all kept together just like a music group! It’s great to be able to do this….outside! There was conversation around the trees and how they grow, all different sizes and types. A great game was had on a log with branches, pretending it was a ‘super slug’ and going on a journey to London. Lovely imaginative play. Suddenly it was time to go… another tiring but happy day at Forest School!
