This week we have been looking at spring, seeds and growing. Thank you to all those who remembered to bring a sock in. The children have made grassheads and hopefully they will soon start to grow some hair! The children know that they have to put them in a sunny spot and give them water regularly. Do bring them in when they have begun to grow. One child brought their bean and cress in to show – I wonder who will have the tallest beanstalk! Some have been learning to use pictorial instructions to do the planting themselves, following the numbered sequence and finding the resources themselves. All have had the opportunity to make blossom pictures using cotton buds and we have learnt some new rhymes. The children moving up to school in September have been looking at describing pictures in stories, what will happen next and rhyming words as well as letter sounds with Jolly Phonics. Out in the garden there has been a lot of imaginative role play, some inspired by the many badger holes found at Forest school this week. Younger children have enjoyed exploring the digging and gravel area and the sandpit outside and the compost in the garden centre.
Once again many thanks to Chris Townsend who has constructed the most fantastic metal support for our block and tackle over the sandpit – a real work of art and not at all what we were expecting. The children love this new piece of equipment and one little boy was very proud of his daddy! Chris also fixed the front gate which had dropped and was proving very difficult to open and shut. Thank you Chris!
Finally – look out for some real tools next week.
