This week we put on our goggles and started some experiments. We saw colour mixing – watching the red and yellow water travel along the kitchen towel to meet in the middle as orange. We saw a reaction with food colouring in milk and added a drop of washing up liquid and watch the colours ‘dance’ we also made raisins ‘dance’ too! Plaster of Paris was mixed and poured into moulds with a hidden treasure inside.
We created a volcano using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar and caused raucous giggling as it erupted 6 ft in the air – raining vinegar all over everyone. “Do it again ” they all shouted! “Wow that’s awesome!!” Also using the reaction between bicarb and vinegar in a plastic bottle we managed to inflate a balloon. A fantastic week which has sparked a great introduction into science!
