I can do Science

Goggles at the ready as we carried out ‘science’ experiments at Pre-School this week.  There was much hilarity as we set off volcanic eruptions using bicarb of soda and vinegar with red food dye, all coming out of the top of a ‘real’ volcano.  We have tried colour-changing and popping film canister experiments too – those really made jump, the anticipation and then bang as the lid came off!  We have also used some thermal paper; a special fine paper that is coated with a chemical that changes colour when exposed to heat – we laid out shapes and toys on the paper, left them in the sun and then ‘fixed’ them by soaking in water.  Lots of other water and sand activities took place as well as weighing and the pulley system was in operation.
