We walked to Ascott Church on a beautiful Autumn morning this week to visit the vicar, Mark, who told us all about Harvest. The children were so chatty with him, it was lovely to hear. When he asked what we use to harvest crops the answers included a tractor, a spade and a motorbike! The motorbike was mentioned more than once! The children also sang him some of our new Harvest songs and proudly took their food produce up to the altar, this will be added to the Food Bank and be passed on to people in need. We were shown a ‘secret’ door and through the door was a very special treat – one of the bells needs repair and we were able to see and touch it (the first time it has been down from the top of the tower since the Church was built!). The bell will be back in the tower by Christmas-time and we were invited back to ring it then.
