We have been talking about harvest this week – corn, fruit and vegetables and have continued with our harvest songs and reading The Little Red Hen, Scarecrow’s Secret and The Scarecrow Who Couldn’t Scare. The children have had the opportunity to make a scarecrow plate, a harvest shaker, a cheerio necklace and a blackberry and apple crumble (using the blackberries they had picked at forest school). They have also been busy sticking and gluing for our harvest/Little red hen display board.
On Tuesday we walked up to Ascott church and the children brought some harvest gifts. We sang our harvest songs and Rev. Andy Thayer talked to the children about growing wheat and sharing.
At forest school the children also had the opportunity for some harvesting at Pauline’s allotment – digging for potatoes, pulling carrots and picking raspberries – YUM! Next week the topic is Celebrations/Birthdays, as always we welcome any items or information from home. Many thanks.
