Today was our first Forest School session. We walked down the Lane from the Hall-it seemed very quiet! The leaves on the trees were mostly green, but we did talk about the leaves changing soon, becoming brown and falling off the trees…we all found it odd to think it was autumn time, especially as the weather is so muggy. There was discussion about keeping safe by the road, with a few children telling the adult about “getting so squashed you are dead!”; as well as what to pick, i.e. black blackberries, not the red or green and NOT other berries which are for birds/animals. Maybe when you are out & about over the next month you could look out to see when the blackberries are ready & pick a few for snack at Pre-school, we did bring some back which the children took home……..although some have only a few…….they were just too tasty!!! There are very few sheep in the fields this year…but we did spot some in the end! Several trains passed by as we walked along the Lane, do ask your child if they were slow or fast/speedy? We walked over the magical bridge into the big field, then it was time to return for lunch- a good beginning to Forest School.
