This week we have planned our activities around fireworks night and the children have enjoyed making rockets with lots of lovely sequins & Catherine wheel spinners as well as glue and glitter firework pictures. During register we spoke about fires and being careful around matches, the children also heard the very noisy fire alarm and looked out for the flashing light. On Thursday the mention of chocolate at snack time sent the children running to the tables, never have they got their hands washed, seated and arms folded so quickly! Breadsticks dipped in chocolate and then into hundreds and thousands to create edible sparklers was the reason for their haste! We also enjoyed sandwiches; the children rolled out the bread, buttered and put jam on themselves before rolling them up into Catherine wheels. Tinsel also made an early appearance this week… we used it to make sparklers for the children to hold and wave around. We did firework ring games, the children especially enjoyed being Catherine wheels, all holding hands and whizzing round in a big circle, there were many cries of ‘again, again!’ At circle time some children told us that they had already been to firework displays and the noise was very loud! Some others said they were going to the display in Shipton tomorrow. We will see you there and hope you have a fantastic time. Be safe. x
