Well we finally got to the Forest site…the weather was kind to us but still muddy! They have done a lot of clearing so able to see many chopped trees & spoke about counting the circles to work out how old the trees were….all great fun for maths. Lots of digging went on-exploring holes plus the site area in general. We did have some light rain, but ignored it!!! In all the years we have been going to Forest School we saw our first Hunt……it was truly majestic, watching horses galloping along, of various sizes. They wore smart velvet jackets and looked somewhat stylish to be in the woods-whereas we were all warm (well done everyone for the layers of clothing you put on your child) but rather unkempt. This encouraged lots of conversation & we had super sustained concentration…as they all passed nearby…even had a couple of stragglers coming up our path who had got lost!-so the children were able to deliberate which direction they should have gone. I only had to remind a few about keeping safe while in the site-so the children are definitely becoming aware of their own safety-lovely. Let’s hope our next visit is dry and as exciting…! Lisa
