Well what can I say?! It was such an incredible performance on Wednesday evening by our amazing little people.
There was such a warm welcome from the staff and as we sat in eager anticipation of the performance we were offered a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie to get us into the Christmas Spirit. Then, the lights dimmed, there was hush and onto the stage came the children, standing up to sing their first song with their musical sticks!
We heard some wonderful singing and excellent actions to the songs. I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. I must admit I did both. Then Nicky began telling the story of the Christmas Pudding……the ‘Grandparents’ had some assistance in throwing the ingredients into the mixing bowl and into the oven it went. The problem came when they tried to get the Christmas Pudding out of the oven, it was too big!!! The Grandparents needed help from their grandchildren and everyone pulled and pulled, but still it wouldn’t move. The grandchildren called to the animals to help and eventually after much pulling, heave ho (and with a little help from Pauline), out came the Christmas Pudding. Hurrah!!
The children performed so well throughout and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the production. We were treated to some more superb singing, accompanied by lots of happy smiley faces before the performance came to an end and everybody gave a huge round of applause. After greeting our children off the stage and giving them lots of hugs and praise, they were treated to a drink and a biscuit, much deserved after all their efforts.
The work involved in putting a performance like this together is not to be underestimated. The children and staff (how do they get the children to follow instructions?!?!?) put so much effort in; it never ceases to amaze me.
Well done Ascott Pre-School!!
