On a very windy morning this week we took a slightly longer minibus journey to John and Nicola Walker’s Farm. We arrived and had warming hot chocolate and birthday cake from Max in the barn, we all sat on straw bales amongst the animals. Nicola showed us the lambs and those who wanted to had the opportunity to stroke them. We had lots of chat about the lambs, including single, twins and triplets, the children were calling out the numbers that were sprayed on their sides and matching up the lambs with their mothers. We then went off to a bigger barn where there were some expectant ewes, none were due to give birth immediately though! Next was the grain store and some big steps for the children up to the cab of the huge tractor – the staff had fun recognising the next generation of boy racers – and, yes, they were boys! The children helped to feed hay to the cows and visited the chickens before going for a really windy walk along the farm track before setting off back home. A lovely day and huge thanks to John and Nicola who so kindly let us come back to see the farm. [See photo gallery section for more photo’s]
