After watching some children playing Pirates we decided to incorporate a Pirate topic into the planning this week. What a fun week we have had! Those who chose were able to help plan the pirate galleon, drawing diagrams and shouting out ideas for us to write down, the children helped tape cardboard boxes together and everything was then covered in paint! We added the mast and a net curtain sail and along with some fairy lights we were able to set sail all week. Thank you so much to everyone at home who took this topic on board and sent things in to support our play. We made treasure maps, telescopes, iced ship biscuits and made pretty parrots as well as reading lots of pirate stories, walking the plank, maths activities and learning some new songs We saw some pretty amazing role play in the galleon which was played with both inside the hall and outside in the garden. It may even survive another week before being put into recycling – so much fun from a cardboard box!
