The summer term has just zoomed by at Preschool. We have been very busy hatching chicks, celebrating the Jubilee and getting our older children ready to start school. We have enjoyed some fine weather for Forest School sessions in the woods at Bruern, thanks to the Astor family for providing us with a beautiful site for this activity.
Three cheers for the Queen at our Jubilee ‘Street Party’
The children had lots of fun doing Jubilee-themed activities. We made crowns, bunting and swizzle sticks for a Street Party, which was set up on long tables outside Tiddy Hall. We ate party food, played music and danced in our crowns. We created golden coaches, Beefeaters, Queens, crown biscuits and a Platinum Jubilee Display board. The children told us that the Queen lives in a palace, and her favourite things are flowers, tea, horses and dogs, especially corgis.
Super fundraising at our Sports & Family Fun Day
We enjoyed beautiful weather for our sports and family fun day event, it was great to finally have the chance to bring all our families together. The children ran, balanced eggs on spoons and teamed up with their parents for a somewhat chaotic wheelbarrow race. We raised an outstanding £1,470.36, which Preschool will use to purchase new equipment and toys for the children to enjoy. We will also be receiving an additional £500 from A-Plan, who sponsored the event. Well done and thank you to all involved, with a special mention to parent committee members Caroline and Tamsyn who coordinated the event so efficiently.
Celebrating our school leavers with a special concert
The older children ended the term by giving a brilliant performance of an original play written by Preschool staff, entitled ‘The Gingerbread Man and the Missing Golden Key’. The children all sang and acted confidently, and it was lovely to be able to celebrate the end of their time at Preschool with families, even though the event did coincide with the record-breaking heatwave!
