Dropping off your child
Parking
There is good parking at Tiddy Hall, although it can get congested at peak times. Please park considerately to allow safe and effective use of the space.
If you are staying for the session, please park along the back wall, furthest from the paved play-area in front of the hall.
Signing in
At the hall entrance, you will find a signing-in sheet that must be filled in every time your child attends a session. If someone other than you or the usual carer is collecting your child, we ask that you fill in the collecting column with the name of the collecting person and their contact details. Please also let one of the staff members know so that we can ensure the best standard of safety for your child.
Communication
We use e-mail to communicate with parents so check we have your contact details and inform us of any changes to your email addresses. The notice board inside the hall displays general information about Pre-school and the term’s duty and fruit rotas. Session and staffing plans are also included on this board.
Welcome and register
A member of staff will greet you and your child at the door and mark the child’s attendance in the register.
Coats and bags
Spare-clothes bags go in the boxes in the entrance hall; lunch bags should be taken to kitchen hatch in the hall. We have named coat-pegs for all the children in the hall and encourage the children to find their coats independently. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.
In summer we ask that you provide your child with a sun-hat and apply sunscreen prior to arriving at Pre-school. In winter a coat, hat and gloves will be necessary for outdoor play.
Please ensure that all items of clothing and belongings are labelled with your child’s name. We have some forms available if you would like to order name labels.
Name cards
We encourage each child to find their name card and stick it to the welcome board.
Settling in
You are welcome to stay with your child for as long as you want. Many children get upset when they are first left but most settle quickly, especially once you are out of sight! If we feel your child is particularly unsettled during a session we will call you.
Door locking
The front door of Tiddy Hall is kept locked during all Pre-school sessions to prevent any unaccompanied children leaving the hall or unknown persons entering. When you have settled your child and are ready to leave, the staff member on the door will let you out and lock the door behind you. If the session has started and no one is at the door, please ask a staff member or parent helper to let you out and lock the door behind you. Equally, if you arrive during a session, please attract the attention of a staff member or parent helper within the hall to let you in and ensure that the door is locked behind you.
Collecting your child
If the gate to the car park is closed when you arrive to collect your child, please ring the door bell which is located on the gate or telephone the number displayed – a member of staff will come to the gate to unlock it and allow you to drive or walk in.
Please sign the collect column, and wait by the door for your child to be returned to you, hands full of the day’s craft and head full of new friends and activities!
When your child is unwell
As a general rule your child should not attend Pre-school while they have symptoms or are feeling unwell.
The following table below provides a guide to periods of exclusion if your child is ill. In individual cases the GP may advise when a child is fit to return.
If your child is unwell please let us know, in the strictest of confidence. If the illness is infectious it is particularly important so that we can help protect other children and adults, especially those who may be more than usually vulnerable.
