Remembrance & Red

The theme this week was Remembrance and the colour red. The children made lots of different poppies… poppies on sticks, printed poppies, cut-out poppies and we mounted them on one of the display boards at Tiddy Hall – they also enjoyed painting cardboard boxes to make the Tower of London and a barge on the River Thames – do take a look at the board by the ‘hatch’. The children also made pizzas with all things red; tomato, pepper etc. All the accessories and things to buy in the home corner shop were red, as was the playdough, rollers and cutters. Penne pasta was dyed red and threaded into necklaces with string. Many thanks to all the children who remembered to bring things in from home to enhance this topic and who got the chance to talk about their items at circle time – this always promotes lots of lively conversations that don’t ever keep to the theme – but that’s what it’s all about!
