This week our topic is Harvest; we have been talking about harvesting the crops with chat about different foods and where they come from. Of course we also had lots of play and talk around BIG farm machinery too, which we notice is of interest to a lot of our children! We have enjoyed reading stories about harvest as well as the Little Red Hen in book, CD and Sally Walker form! We have made bread rolls and apple and blackberry crumble with the blackberries we picked on our walk. As some helpers can confirm, the staff have heartily sung our new Harvest songs and the children are starting to join in too! (see Quick Links section on our website for the words to practise at home). Last week we noticed some children really enjoyed an impromptu dancing session, so therefore included it on our plans for this week too. Last but not least the children made a little harvest mouse covered in seeds, which we expect will take pride of place on your fridges! Harvest topic and some of the activities from this week continue again next week…
